Canadian Arctic Polar Bear Hunt

Attention international customers!

Riata’s #1 and most prolific Polar Bear outfitter has been offering Polar bear hunts across the Arctic for over 29 years and assisted with the very first Polar bear imported into the United States in 1992. Our Polar Bear hunts are conducted out of the village of Grise Fiord. This area has proven to be one of the most successful areas in the Arctic for big bears.

Along with high success rates and good trophy quality, this 12 day hunt in the Arctic is sure to be one of your most memorable. Along with that, the Inuit culture itself is an unforgettable experience.

Hunt Location

These hunts are conducted along the Arctic coast and are conducted from the community of Grise Fiord, which has a high harvest quota of Polar Bears. This quota, of course, is proportional to and reflects the local bear population.  We research every year to see where the biggest bears and best success rates are.

Importation laws can change any time in the Arctic, but we are always on top of current laws and the best and most successful areas to harvest big bears.   At this time Polar Bears are not importable to the USA or Mexico.

Hunting Methods

Hunting is done from outpost camps and hunting camps in prime areas that may be up to 150 miles from the nearest community. On the ice, you will travel and hunt by dog sled with your guide.  There will also be another guide on a snowmobile with all your gear, so accommodations are never far behind.

All hunts are normally 12 days in duration on a 1 x 2 basis (one guide and dog team, plus one guide on snowmobile to one hunter), or possibly 1 x 3.  Most if not all of the bears are bagged within the allowed hunting days.  The hunt ends at the end of 12 days or sooner if the hunter has harvested his bear. Conditions can be extremely cold but with the proper gear you will be sure to enjoy this exciting adventure.
